The human race is technically called Homo Sapiens Sapiens. We’re named for intelligence, or wisdom, squared! Can we rethink that? This should be done pronto, before any aliens get here and take offense. And they’ll never stop laughing, certainly not take us seriously. I think our defining feature as a species might be arrogance. Homo arrogans. Or insolens, we’re so insolent. For many of us it’s probably homo erectus, which is ironic because we may not be living a very upright life. I look forward to a day when our defining feature will be humility. Homo humilis. Or even better, homo reverens. It’s an awesome universe and most of us just don’t even know our place yet.
